Insect End-of-the-Unit Wiki

Summary:
Students end the unit by creating a wiki page with a partner. They will create an insect and habitat based on the characteristics of an insect, take a digital photo, and record an audio file explaining their insect.
Tasks:
1) Review insect characteristics (from PowerPoint)
2) Break students into groups of 2 and explain to students that they will be creating an insect that has to be an insect on Earth (no insects that breathe fire or have super strength!)
3) Tell students that they will create a wiki page on their insect, create a drawing of their insect (including life cycle!!), take, compress, and upload a digital photo of their drawing on the the wiki page. They will then record an audacity file that explains the habitat and needs of their insect (what does it eat, etc).
Objectives:
Students will recognize and understand that insects have life cycles. Animal adaptations help animals survive in their environment.
Assessment:
Students will have a traditional assessment in the form of a quiz (provided in Insect binder)
This wiki will be assessed using the rubirc provided. One rubric provides neccessary items (6 legs, 2 antennae, etc) and one rubric addresses teamwork skills.
